When should you replace your steering and suspension systems ?

When your suspension system is wearing or becoming defective, it can cause a multitude of problems. Some of these problems, if not rectified quickly, can cause additional costly issues such as increased tyre wearing and bearing wear, taking the vehicle off the road for longer.

Some of the core indicators that the steering system might be faulty are:

  • The truck or heavy-duty vehicle sitting low on one side more than the other on even ground

  • Excessive movement in the cabin when travelling over large potholes or bumps in the road

  • Creaking or squealing noises coming from truck when standing at the front of the vehicle and pushing it back on its springs with your hands

Steering systems can demonstrate even more easy-to-identify signals that the system might be defective, and these can have similar costly impacts to when suspension systems defect.

Some tell-tale signs that your steering system needs replacing include:

  • Whining noises coming from the vehicle consistently when cornering and making turns

  • Delay in the response time between effecting the steering wheel and the vehicle responding

  • When steering fluid drops significantly quicker than normal
