Gearbox / Differential / Propshaft Parts

Fortunately, gearboxes stand the test of time. Haulage, passenger, and commercial vehicles are all fitted with robust gearboxes created to last hundreds of thousands of miles. Even drivers who tend to drive on the most intense terrains and place huge demands on their vehicles, will find that their gearboxes remain steadfast and stand the test of time. It is also true that gearboxes are costly to fix and replace when things go wrong.

Gearboxes for Commercial Heavy Duty Fleets

If you have a fleet of commercial vehicles, keeping your gearboxes in check is particularly important. The reasons for this are two-fold. Firstly, truck gearboxes are expensive kits to replace and secondly, it can take 3-4 days to replace a heavy-duty or commercial vehicle’s gearbox. For commercial companies who rely on their vehicles, waiting 3-4 days can be a long time. The gearbox makes up the first mechanical component of the kinematic chain. Servicing and repairing a gearbox is a complex operation. It can take hours or days to repair or service a gearbox before ensuring that it is safe for a vehicle to return to the road.

We sell gearbox and differential parts for all leading vehicles brands, such as DAF, Scania, IVECO, MAN, Mercedes Benz, Renault, and Volvo.   We have vast experience working with fleet managers and maintenance divisions to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.  We use the number one supplier of driveline and transmission systems, ZF, enabling us to optimize fleet operations. When should you replace Gearbox, Differential or Propshaft parts?

It’s good to be aware that gearbox, differential and Propshaft failures generally don’t happen overnight. Instead, they tend to fail over time. Before them failing, there are often mechanical problems that, if identified early, can prevent these failures from occurring. We can save you money and time!

As well as paying attention to your gearbox, it is important to look at the differential bevel gear group.  The differential also plays a fundamental role in the kinematic chain. In addition to transforming the motion from transverse to longitudinal, it also affects the transmission ratio on the wheels. A good differential will distribute the speed over the wheels perfectly.

Common indicators that the gearbox, differential or propshaft could fail include:

    • Error codes and warning lights showing on the dashboard in the cabin while driving
    • If there is a bump or juddering noise when changing gears
    • If you can hear a clicking or knocking noise
    • The vehicle shudders when you accelerate
    • You can smell a strong burning scent coming from around the gearbox
    • You have difficulty finding the gear gates – this can be a mature issue with the gearbox, so get this looked at quickly.
