EGR Valves

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves are integral components to the vehicles engine management system. EGR is a method to control Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emission which is produced as a by-product during the combustion process. NOx is a harmful oxide of nitrogen and takes place in the combustion chamber at high temperatures. The EGR valve is the main component of the EGR system and can significantly reduce the emissions of NOx. It achieves this by rerouting small amounts of exhaust gas to enter the air intake at predefined load conditions, which results in less oxygen for combustion in the cylinders, this lowers the temperature and hence reduces the formation of NOx.

It is important to check that the EGR valves open and close as expected. The EGR valve can stick and become coked up on some applications. In such case this can have significant effect on the turbocharger’s performance.

In addition to an excessive production of NOx, a faulty EGR will result in erratic idling or the lack of idling, increased fuel consumption and poor operation when cold.

We supply a broad range of EGR valves to cover both European light passenger and light commercial vehicles (LCV’s).
